UAE – Mubasher: flydubai has announced plans to expand its fleet, with seven additional aircraft to be received before the end of 2024.

This fleet expansion will support the airline's growing network, enabling it to add new destinations like Basel, Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

flydubai also aims to hire over 130 new pilots by the end of the year, on top of the 440 employees recruited in 2023 representing 6% headcount growth.

Ongoing recruitment efforts are being made to onboard qualified people and support the company's expansion.

Notably, flydubai placed a huge order for 30 Boeing 787-9 widebody jets at the 2023 Dubai Airshow, a milestone for the carrier.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, said: “Today, flydubai has grown its workforce to more than 5,800 skilled professionals represented by 140 nationalities, more than 1,200 of whom are pilots. We are on track to hire more than 130 new pilots by the end of this year."

"From our home in Dubai, flydubai has built a network of more than 125 destinations across 58 countries served by a young and efficient fleet of 88 Boeing 737 aircraft," Al Ghaith noted.

In May 2024, flydubai recorded growth in passenger numbers since the beginning of 2024.
